Today went to class and discussing about a fiction entitled "The Question of Rain." The imagery of water in the reading depicts the idea of water not only as a basic need for human being, it's also an essential element in religious practice. Though my lecturer only talked about the idea of baptism in Christianity and Mikyah (ritual bath) in Judaism, but to me we can add one more which is the obligatory bath during janabah for Muslims. Yes, water is important in those three monotheistic religions as a source of purification.

Let's ponder the translation of mikyah. In Judaism, when a woman is menstruating, she'll be in a state of "niddah" (which I understand as "haid," as in Islam) where she is technically in a state of "minor" exclusion and for about a week later until she immerses in a ritual bath known as a mikvah (refer to: here). Here, it signifies a similarity of Judaism and Islam. Sadly to hear, a Jewish woman who covers her head is called an orthodox Jewish. Why I said it is sad to hear that because it lines up another similar teaching to the Islamic revelation as stated in Quran to tell the women to cover their head.

Both teachings, Islam and Judaism, refer to the holy scriptures sent by God (ALLAH) to His prophets, Muhammad and Moses. For example, we can draw one understanding from both the following verses, one verse of Torah and another one is a Quranic, as follow:

   1) The Torah teaches: "Do not draw close to a woman when she is a niddah; (sexual intercourse) relations are forbidden (at that time)." (Leviticus: 15:19-24, 18:19, 20:18).

   2) As stated in the Noble Quran: "They ask thee concerning women's courses. Say: They are a hurt and a pollution: So keep away from women in their courses, and do not approach them until they are clean. But when they have purified themselves, ye may approach them in any manner, time, or place ordained for you by God. For God loves those who turn to Him constantly and He loves those who keep themselves pure and clean." (Al-Baqarah, 2:222)

Clearly, the same prohibition is stated here. But, why we need Islam? Islam came to correct the deviation of human beings led by Judaism and Christianity. But, people did not realize this purpose of God sending His last messenger named Muhammad to reinvite the human race to the one and only correct path (Shari'ah) to God (ALLAH). Judaism historically refused to accept Christianity and right now both religions seem to claim Islam is not the correct way to God. But to the Islamic teaching, Islam recognized both religions taught by the previous Islamic prophets sent by God to His people but yet the people had astrayed so much from what God (ALLAH) taught them earlier through the prophets. To see Judaism shares some similarities in its teachings to the Islamic teachings really proves that both religions are actually worshipping the same God. Even, Christianity, which copied and adjusted some teachings in Judaism and claimed to be the Christian teachings, is definitely worshipping ALLAH, but the thing is the biggest mistake the Christians had made is the conception of God because it is really wrong to claim Jesus as partly God and partly human as God had never transcended into any human flesh and Jesus had never possess any divine element.

That is why Islam came to correct all the mistakes committed by the Jews and Christians, to tell them that Jesus is only a normal human being chosen by God to be His prophet and to tell them that sexual intercourse is prohibitted when the wife is in niddah (or as in Islam called haid), and many more... It's kinda sad to actually learn that they believe in the same God but yet they do not unite one other under one religion. Let's correct all the mistakes and be a Muslim, Muslim (submissive) to ALLAH. Had the Jews or Christians not making any amendment in the teachings of Torah and Bible, we can call them to be Muslim too, but yet the reality is the other way around.

Saje nak tambah lagi:

Psyche = Soul..... and Psyche + Logos = Psychology = The study of Soul
Socio = Society... and Socio + Logos = Sociology = The study of Society/Social
Anthropo or Anthrop = Human Being... and Anthropo + Logos = Anthropology = The study of Human Being
Dermato = skin... and Dermato + Logos = Dermatology = The study of skin...

Semua perkataan ni mmg ceduk dari Greek... tu pasal panggil doktor falsafah pasal katanya la asal usul ilmu ni dari falsafah greek... cam bagus je, tapi mmg pun sbb even Ibnu Khaldun yang sepatutnya dipanggil bapa ekonomi (pasal John Smith tu lahir pada zaman selepas zaman Ibn Khaldun) pun rujuk pada ilmu ekonomi Greek yang pernah dibincang oleh Aristotle dan kengkawan satu zaman Greek dulu... hebat Greek ni tu pasal orang Greek ni dapat bina kota Athen yang hebat...
