Marquette University News Briefs for Aug. 19, 2003

Princeton Review names Marquette a "Best in the Midwest" university

Marquette was named one of the best universities in the Midwest in the Princeton Review's annual National College survey results released this morning. Marquette is profiled in the first edition of "The Best Midwestern Colleges," which seeks "to identify some of the colleges and universities that we feel stand out within each region."

In addition, Marquette ranked in the top 20 nationally as a school "where students never stop studying," joining Carnegie Mellon and the California Institute of Technology who were also on the short list.

"Marquette has always been a great balance between serious academic study and a fun environment outside of the classroom," President Robert Wild, S.J., said. "Our students know that to maintain the excellence we insist upon, they have to study. We are very proud of them."

The Princeton Review includes 63 sets of rankings. They result from surveys of 106,000 students at 351 colleges and universities, including Marquette. You can find more information on the rankings at http://www.princetonreview.com.
